About Us

Our Team

Although we may still just be high school students, we want to have an impact that stems outside of our community, and help some of the people who need it the most. We know that with Hard work, commitment, and dedication we can make a real difference.

Hermon Bekele

Founder and CEO

Hermon Bekele is the founder and executive director of Books4Hope.  He's a high school student living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Hermon was born to Ethiopian parents, both of which received education in Ethiopia. Through them, he gained insight to the challenges children in rural communities faced while trying to attain an education. He created this organization in hopes of making a real impact beyond his community, and positively effect the lives of people in the greatest need. Hermon is really excited to make this project a success and take steps towards adressing educational disparities prevalent in underserved communities.

Christopher Stamatelatos

Regis Lu

Co-Director of Social Media Advertising

Regis Lu is a High School Student in Gastonia, North carolina. He has expansive experience with social media advertising, even managing to grow a youtube channel to 8,500 Subscribers and accumulate over 1.4 million views. He hopes to bring his expertise to Books4Hope to help make the project a real success.

The problem

In many homes,  books often sit idle after just a read or two, never to be touched again. Yet these very books hold immense value for underprivileged children in Ethiopia. Each book, no matter how modest or insignificant, contains a wealth of knowledge and opportunity - may it be an engaging tale or the gateway to understanding a complex mathematical concept. Books4Hope is an organization that donates these lightly used books to children, empowering them and giving them access to new worlds and ideas.

Roughly 70% of communities live rurally in Ethiopia. The students in these areas are severely under-resourced of educational material.  Books4hope hosts fundraisers to raise money for libraries in communities that need it the most - enabling students to have a quiet place to study and access knowledge they may not be able to anywhere else.
